On August 8, 1908, in Le Mans, in the Sarthe region, the world of aviation wrote a page in its nascent history. Two Americans, the Wright brothers, demonstrated with a maiden flight at the Hunaudières racecourse that their plane was capable of turning and landing effortlessly, a technological feat for the time. This flight marked the transition of aviation into the modern era.
